Empowering Independence
The Summer 2024 session of this Workshop will meet on Thursdays from 7:00-8:15 pm, starting on July 11th, 2024. The registration fee covers all 5 sessions for you and your family member with disabilities. It is important to attend all five sessions in order to fully benefit. All sessions take place in real time via Zoom. Make up sessions are not offered.
Sessions will be held on the following dates:
July 11th, 2024 from 7:00-8:15pm
July 18th, 2024 from 7:00-8:15pm
July 25th, 2024 from 7:00-8:15pm
August 1st, 2024 from 7:00-8:15pm
August 8th, 2024 from 7:00-8:15pm
This 5-session results-oriented workshop is designed to provide a person-centered, strengths-based framework and action plan for creating and implementing an individual’s vision for independence. Scholarships available for Montgomery County Residents ages 16-21.
What You Can Expect From This Workshop
For Self Advocates & Family Members: This workshop engages self advocates with disabilities (age 16+) and their family members.
Guided Exercises & Facilitated Discussion: Together, we’ll participate in various exercises, guided activities, and facilitated discussions to explore topics related to the individual’s and other family members’ shared vision of an independent or interdependent future.
Develop Specific Steps: Throughout the series, families will develop specific, concrete steps that they can use to continue working towards their independence vision.
We regret that we do not accept waiver funding for this workshop. You do not need a waiver to participate.
