Join us as we welcome representatives from two organizations that provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to make connections and work on their social skills. Our presenters from CF Counseling Connections and Social Growth and Community Connections will share information about their respective programs.
Social Growth and Community Connections is a young adult social group in the Montgomery County community led by Kerry Byrnes and Meg Jermain. The main goals of the group are creating friendships and supporting independence. Disguised in an active, exciting setting, clients receive communication support while also experiencing fun activities. Staff supports clients in finding connections with others, problem solving, advocating, and basic communication. Events take place in community settings, such as bowling, Color Me Mine painting, miniature golf, Urban Air trampoline parks, Escape Rooms, swim parties, and more. After the in person event, clients are invited to a follow up google meet to reflect on the in person meet up and continue to engage with other attendees.
CF Counseling Connections facilitates young adult social groups for neurodivergent young adults ages 18 and over who are looking to form meaningful social relationships. The social groups provide an opportunity to participate in fun activities while connecting with others that may be facing similar challenges. The ultimate goal is to form long lasting friendships that span beyond the group. Each group is facilitated by a licensed counselor. Zoom and in-person options available.
